Give your product a name so it’s clear which product(s) your customer is choosing. If you have a plan-based subscription model, this helps clarify which product belongs to which plan.Product Identifier
The product identifier is important for your logistics. You can enter any kind of identifier in this field, such as a SKU, EAN, or UPC.Price

If you have an image of the product, you can upload it here. This image will be displayed when your customer is checking out and can be used in your email correspondence.
Available to order
Use Available to order as the product’s overall availability in Firmhouse. An unavailable product cannot be newly selected in Firmhouse checkout or in the Self Service Center. If this setting is turned off, the product stays in Firmhouse but customers cannot newly order it. Existing subscriptions that already contain the product are not automatically changed. For Shopify-linked products with Automatic product syncing enabled, this setting can be read-only. In that case, Shopify manages it through the product’s status and Firmhouse product tags.Available in Firmhouse checkout
Use Available in Firmhouse checkout when the product should stay generally available but new customers should not be able to select it during Firmhouse signup. Turning this setting off also blocks the Firmhouse checkout API and direct or abandoned Firmhouse checkout links that contain the product. It does not affect external checkout imports such as Shopify. This setting does not remove the product from existing subscriptions. To let existing customers add it through the Self Service Center, keep Existing customers can add this product to their subscription enabled.Logistics Settings
After configuring the basics, you’ll need to determine the logistical settings for your product.Shipment Frequency

- Every month - Shipped monthly
- Every 2 weeks - Shipped bi-weekly
- Every 3 months - Shipped quarterly
- Custom intervals

Initial Shipment
Determine when to ship the initial product:- Immediately upon activation - Ship as soon as the subscription is activated
- After a predetermined time - Wait a specific period before shipping
- Ship manually - Arrange the shipping on your own pace

One-off Add-on Products
One-off add-on ordered products are products that get automatically included in orders when they’re created, but don’t have a shipment date since we don’t know when they’ll ship. How One-off Add-ons Work
When you add a one-off add-on product to a subscription:- The product is automatically included in the next order that gets created for that subscription
- The product doesn’t have a shipment date - it will be included whenever the next order is generated
- After an order containing the one-off add-on is created, the product is automatically removed from the subscription
- This works for both native subscriptions and Shopify contracts
Use Cases
One-off add-ons are perfect for promotional items, make-up items when something went wrong with a previous order, seasonal additions, and upsells that customers requested or that you want to include as a one-time addition.Adding One-off Add-ons
You can add one-off add-on products to a subscription in two ways: From the admin: When adding a product to a customer’s subscription, select One-off add-on in the Product type dropdown. The product will be automatically included in the next order that’s created for that subscription. See Add or remove products from a subscription for more details. Via the API: Use thecreateOrderedProduct mutation with the orderedProductType set to ONE_OFF_ADDON. The product will then be automatically included in the next order that’s created for that subscription. To add a product that is outside the subscription’s plan group (e.g., for manual overrides), use the createOrderedProductV2 mutation with skipPlanGroupCheck: true.
Product Groups
Product groups organize variants of the same parent product together in the self-service center. When customers browse products to add to their subscription, variants of the same product (like different sizes, colors, or flavors) are displayed together, making it easier for them to see and compare their options. How Product Groups Work
A product group represents a parent product and contains all its variants. For example, if you have a “Coffee Subscription” product with variants for different flavors (Vanilla, Chocolate, Caramel), all those variants belong to the same product group. In the self-service center, customers will see these variants grouped together, helping them understand they’re choosing between different options of the same product.Creating and Managing Product Groups
For Shopify Users
If you’re using Shopify, product groups can be created and managed when you sync products. Variants of the same Shopify product are grouped together, with the product group representing the parent Shopify product. For new products, enable Grouping and updating Shopify variants in your sync settings. To group products that already exist in Firmhouse, enable both Update existing products and Grouping and updating Shopify variants. See Importing and Syncing Products for more details. After enabling the Product Groups Admin Interface in New Features, go to Product Groups to review Shopify-managed membership. Shopify-linked products are read-only because their group follows the parent product in Shopify. If available Shopify products are missing a group, the page shows how many products are affected and offers two repair options:- Repair missing group assignments is the recommended option. It assigns only products that do not currently have a group and leaves existing assignments unchanged.
- Rebuild all Shopify group assignments places every available Shopify-linked product into the group for its current Shopify parent. Use this advanced option when existing assignments are incorrect, because it replaces any cross-product grouping of Shopify products.
For Non-Shopify Users
If you’re not using Shopify, you can create and manage product groups directly from the admin interface. This feature is currently available as a new feature that needs to be enabled first. To enable Product Groups Admin Interface:- Navigate to New Features in your admin sidebar
- Find “Product Groups Admin Interface” in the list
- Click to enable the feature
- Navigate to Product Groups in your admin sidebar
- Click + Create product group to create a new group
- Enter a title for the product group
- Select the products that belong to this group using the product selector
- A product can only be part of one product group at a time
- If you assign a product to a new group, it will be automatically removed from its previous group
- Product groups help bundle variants together in the self-service center, making it easier for customers to choose between different options
createProductGroup, updateProductGroup, and destroyProductGroup mutations. For more information on using the API, see the Developer Docs.
