# Configure languages and countries

> Set the languages and countries your Firmhouse project supports so customers see localized checkout, emails, and Self Service Center content.

Configure which languages and countries your Firmhouse project supports to provide a localized experience for your customers.

## Languages

As a customer, having the full shopping experience in the language you're most comfortable with is always great. Firmhouse currently supports 10 languages you can choose from. Your selection will influence the languages available on:

* Firmhouse Checkout
* Email communications
* Self-Service Center

> **Note for Shopify Checkout users**: If you use Shopify Checkout, languages and translations are managed directly in Shopify. The language settings in Firmhouse only apply to Firmhouse Checkout, emails, and the Self-Service Center.

### Available Languages

Firmhouse currently supports the following languages:

* Dutch (nl)
* English (en)
* Finnish (fi)
* French (fr)
* German (de)

* Spanish (es)
* Swedish (sv)

If you require a language that is not on this list, please contact support to see if it can be added.

### Enabling and Disabling Languages

To configure which languages are available for your customers, navigate to **Settings > Languages** in your Firmhouse project. From here, you can enable or disable languages for:

* **Emails**: Control which languages are available for transactional email communications

* **Firmhouse Checkout**: Define which languages are available on your Firmhouse Checkout page

## Countries

By setting up countries, you choose which countries you'd like to ship to. Your customers will have these options when updating their shipping addresses.

Navigate to your project settings to configure which countries you want to support for shipping.

> **Note for Shopify Checkout users**: If you use Shopify Checkout, Firmhouse will automatically accept any country that is available in your Shopify store. The country settings in Firmhouse are synchronized with your Shopify store's shipping zones.
