Subscribe & Save is the default subscription model for many merchants using Firmhouse. Customers buy products on a recurring schedule and receive an incentive for subscribing, such as a discount, reward, or other subscriber-only benefit. Use this guide if you want to sell everyday replenishment products, consumables, or other products that customers reorder regularly. Common examples include coffee, supplements, personal care products, pet food, household goods, and other products where subscribing should feel easier or more valuable than buying one order at a time.

What customers can do

With a Subscribe & Save setup, customers can:
  • Choose a subscription option on your product page.
  • Select a delivery or billing frequency, such as every month or every 2 weeks.
  • Receive a subscription incentive, such as a percentage discount.
  • Manage their subscription later in the customer portal, depending on the options you enable.

How to set it up

For Shopify stores, start with Quick install on Shopify. That guide walks you through installing Firmhouse, syncing products from Shopify, creating subscription plans, adding subscription options to product pages, and checking payment methods. When you create plans in Firmhouse, you can define the available frequencies and set a discount percentage for customers who subscribe. For more detail on how plans are connected to Shopify products, see How to work with selling plans and selling plan groups. After the checkout flow works, continue with the project setup articles to configure customer communication, payment and order handling, shipping, tax, and the customer portal:
