Shopify Setup
In Shopify, you need to set up a shipping discount for the checkout order. This ensures that subscribers don’t pay for shipping on the checkout order. If you would like to charge for the first (checkout) order and only offer free shipping on recurring orders, you can skip this section and go directly to the Firmhouse Setup section below.Steps
- In your Shopify admin board, click on “Create new discount” and select the Free shipping type.
- Configure your free automatic shipping discount to be applied to the areas/countries where you want it to be used. Make sure the discount method is set to Automatic discount and the Purchase type is set to Subscription.
- Configure the additional settings:
- Minimum purchase requirements: Select “No minimum requirements” if all subscribers should get free shipping. If you’d like to impose a rule for a minimum order value or quantity of items, you can configure that here.
- Recurring payments for subscriptions: Select “Discount applies to all recurring payments” to apply the shipping discount for all subscribers on recurring orders as well (applicable to Shopify native subscriptions).
- Combinations: Select which discount combinations should be possible with the free shipping discount.
Firmhouse Setup
Once you configure the shipping discount at checkout, you need to ensure the recurring orders for SEPA subscriptions are also overridden with free shipping. This is done via the Firmhouse portal.Steps
- Ask our team to enable the feature for you: To get started, please reach out to our team so they can make sure the shipping override feature is available to you.
- Ensure your app permissions are up to date: Enabling the price override feature might require additional access to your Shopify store. Make sure our app has the latest permissions in the Firmhouse platform under Apps > Shopify. This step is needed to ensure that we can create single-usage discount codes for free shipping under the hood.
- Set up a shipping threshold: Navigate to Settings > Shipping. Enable the checkbox so that Shopify shipping rates are used and set the free shipping threshold to zero for free shipping for all subscribers.
