Use plan pricing when the subscription plan itself should define the price or discount that subscribers receive. You can create and manage plans in the Firmhouse portal under Plans.

Pricing strategies

Each plan has a pricing strategy. The available strategies are:
  • Percentage discount: applies a percentage discount compared to the product price.
  • Absolute value: subtracts a fixed amount from the product price.
  • Fixed price: charges the same fixed amount for any product purchased on the plan.
Use Fixed price only when every product on the plan should use the same recurring price. For regular product subscriptions, percentage or absolute-value discounts are usually easier to maintain.

Applies to

The Applies to setting controls which products receive the plan pricing strategy:
  • Recurring only: apply the strategy only to subscription products.
  • One-time purchases: apply the strategy only to one-time products added to the subscription.
  • All: apply the strategy to both subscription products and one-time products added to the subscription.
Choose Recurring only when subscribers should receive the plan discount only on their recurring subscription items. Choose All only when subscribers should also get the same discount on one-time add-ons in the Self Service Center.

Product-specific pricing

When different products need different plan prices or discounts, create separate plan groups and assign the relevant products to each group. For example, if UK products should have a 20% discount and French products should have a 30% discount, create separate products or product sets for each country and assign them to separate plan groups. A single plan cannot be restricted to only some countries while using the same products.

Existing subscriptions

Changes to a plan’s pricing strategy apply to new subscriptions that use that plan. Existing subscriptions keep the plan configuration that was active when the customer signed up, unless you update those subscriptions separately.
